Peter de Cruz, Benoit Schwarz and Valentin Tanner have played together since juniors. They captured the world junior curling championships gold medal for Switzerland in 2010 defeating Scotland in the final. They returned to the world junior final the following year but fell to Sweden, skipped by Oskar Eriksson.
Pätz previously played third on Team Michel with highlights including winning the European Championship in 2013 and representing Switzerland at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. He joined Team de Cruz full-time ahead of the 2014-15 season, but already had experience with the group as he was their alternate at previous events including the 2014 world championship where they defeated Team Canada, skipped by Kevin Koe, to earn the bronze medal.
Schwarz also served as Team Michel’s alternate in the past highlighted with winning the European Championship in 2013 and competing in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
De Cruz captured his second world championship bronze medal in 2017 defeating Team USA, skipped by John Shuster.
After missing the playoffs during his first 10 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling events, de Cruz qualified for the playoffs for the first time at the 2017 Princess Auto Elite 10. De Cruz followed that up with additional playoff appearances at the WestJet Players’ Championship and Humpty’s Champions Cup.
