Perth curlers are prepared for competition

A full house at Dewar’s Rink where the top Scottish men’s and women’s teams are looking to get their hands on the Perth Masters trophies amidst a strong field of international curlers at next month’s Mercure Perth Masters Bonspiel.

Thirty six of the top curling teams in the world will battle it out at Dewars Centre, Perth in the annual Mercure Perth Masters Bonspiel from  4th to 7th January 2024.

With 24 men’s and 12 women’s teams coming from Scotland, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Ukraine, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, England, Czech Republic, Holland and Japan this truly international competition is sure to draw large crowds to Perth over the four days of competition, to watch extremely competitive high quality curling.

The organising committee plan to webcast, 16 live games across the 4 days, including the Quarters, Semis, and Final game on Sunday 7th January. Once again this provides free viewing to curling fans around the globe and can be accessed via the event website www.perthmasters.com

With the biggest Prize Fund for curling in the UK of £26,000 there is plenty to play for throughout the weekend. Favourite for the mens’ event is reigning European and Perth Masters champions Team Mouat, they will face stiff competition from 6 teams currently ranked in the World Top 20 including Scotland’s Team Whyte and Team Craik. On the women’s side Scotland’s world ranked number 12 Team Morrison will be looking to take the title but Canada’s Team Inglis and Team Grandy as well as Switzerlands Team Hurlimann and reigning World Junior Champions Scotland’s Team Munro cannot be discounted.

The first round of games begin at 1pm on Thursday 4th January, with further rounds at 5.30pm and 8pm that evening. Friday sees an early start at 8am and proceeds through the day with 4 rounds of games, whilst Saturday will see five rounds of games, before the Quarter finals at 9am on Sunday, followed by the semis at noon, and the Finals at 2pm and 3.30pm.
