1. Round Robin Points

Round Robin points will be awarded as follows:

  • 3 points for a win
  • 1 point for a drawn game to each team plus 1 point for winning the extra shot draw (see Rule 12)

2. Game Length

All games will be 8 ends throughout the competition.
A minimum of 6 ends must be played in post–Round Robin games.

3. Timekeeping

No time clocks will be used; however, teams must aim for 15 minutes per end.
Slow play may be penalised – Rule C6(m) will apply.

4. Free Guard Zone

The Free Guard Zone will apply in all games.

5. Tick Shot Rule

No tick shot rule will apply in any game.

6. Practice Allocation

Games marked with * will have a coin toss to determine first or second practice.

7. Stone Colour and Rotation

The first team named in the draw shall:

  • Play red stones
  • Have first practice / LSD
  • Have choice of stone rotation

The team with second practice must play the opposite rotation.

8. Pre-Game Practice

Pre-game practice will consist of:

  • One stone thrown to the home end
  • One LSD stone per team, also thrown to the home end

9. Equal LSD

If both teams’ LSDs are equal, the measurement will stand for total LSD.
second stone will then be thrown without sweepers.

10. LSD Ranking

All LSDs in group play will count towards the total for ranking purposes.

11. Blank Ends

Each team is permitted one blank end per game.
Any subsequent blank end will result in loss of last stone at the next end.

12. Drawn Games – Round Robin

In the event of a drawn game during the Round Robin stage:

  • One draw shot per team will be thrown
  • If equal, a second draw will be thrown without sweepers
  • The team that would have had the hammer in an extra end may choose to play first or second
  • Teams may use any stone rotation

13. Drawn Games – Knockout Stage

In the event of a drawn game during the Knockout stage:

  • An extra end will be played
  • If the extra end is blanked, one draw shot per team will be thrown
  • If equal, a second draw will be thrown without sweepers

Competition Formats

Men’s Competition

Following each Round Robin game, all groups and teams will be merged and ranked 1–22.

  • Quarter-finals:
    • 1 v 8
    • 2 v 7
    • 3 v 6
    • 4 v 5
  • Semi-finals:
    • 1 or 8 v 4 or 5
    • 2 or 7 v 3 or 6

Women’s Competition

Following each Round Robin game, both groups and teams will be merged and ranked 1–10.

  • The top two teams advance directly to the semi-finals
  • Quarter-finals:
    • 3 v 6
    • 4 v 5
  • Semi-finals:
    • 1 v 4 or 5
    • 2 v 3 or 6

Play-Off Games

Following the Round Robin games, the higher-ranked team will have the choice of hammer or stone colour in all play-off games.


Regulations and Authority

  • The current World Curling policies and rules for brush heads and brushing will apply
  • Discipline and conduct will follow the current Scottish Curling rules
  • The Chief Umpire’s decision is final in all matters
