Report from the third day's play - part 1

Early start after the dinner last night and last chance to stay in the competition for some teams. First up for a drink at the last chance saloon was Tomi Rantamaki v Logan Gray. After trading blows for the first 4 ends to keep the points level Gray edged ahead by one in the 6th End but Rantamaki was able to blank the 7th to take the hammer up the 8th end and made it count taking his 2 and the game

Report from the first day's play

The 20th Perth Masters got off to a great start this year with some brilliant first game lineups. Ulsrud v Shaw was one of the notable lineups these guys having played each other many times before at the Masters with Ulsrud coming out on top this time. A few young Scottish teams in this year too and one of the best fell to Team Brydone who was drawn against Team Edin the current European Champions.

Late substitution

Late substitution for Team Edin, our very own Kerr Sands (14) is in the starting line up against his Division 3 Skip Robin Brydone in the first game. What a fantastic opportunity and experience for the young lad playing for the current European Champions. Best of luck to both teams.

Chairman's thanks

tl_files/perthmasters/2013/final-2013/final-uslrud-presentation.jpgOn behalf of the organising committee for the 2013 Mercure Perth Masters, I would like to thank all the teams and spectators from around the world who have supported our event.

I hope you enjoyed the experience of curling in my home city rink and that you found time to participate in the warm hospitality that Perth and the surrounding areas have to offer.

This year we celebrated the 20th anniversary of sponsorship from our main sponsor, The Mercure City Mills Hotel, Perth. Although the brand name may have changed over the years, the level of support and enthusiasm shown by the hotel team has, in my view, increased year upon year.

In addition to our main sponsor, Mercure City Mills Hotel, Perth, thank you to Perth Honda, Perth and Kinross Council and Live Active Leisure for their continued support. There are many other sponsors who are providing their support, and they will be acknowledged on the website and in the official programme.

Finally, thank you to my fellow commitee members for the dedication and hard work shown all year round and for making this event a real success in many ways.

Haste ye back.

Peter Loudon

Scenes from the final

McEwan clips his own red in the 2nd and then rolls out to leave Ulsrud with an unexpected 1.

.... and repeats this in the 3rd leaving Ulsrud another 1

...but no mistake at the 4th as McEwan takes his 2.

A measure in the 5th confirmed a massive 5 for Ulsrud - and it was all over for McEwan's triple crown hopes. After 20 years of trying - Ulsrud was now the Perth Master.
