The stage is nearly set for the 38th Mercure City of Perth Curling at the ‘Home of Curling’ Dewars Centre, Perth.
The organising committee are extremely grateful to our main sponsor Mercure Hotel Perth together with our other sponsors Perth & Kinross Council, Perth Honda, Live Active Leisure and Earnside Coaches for their continued support of what is a World Class event both on and off the ice.
Six of the twelve teams heading for the Winter Games in Sochi see The Masters as a vital part of their preparation prior to the Olympic event in February 2014. The current World, European and World Junior Champion teams namely Team Edin from Sweden, Swiss outfit Team Michel and Scotland’s Team Kyle Smith will compete with teams representing twelve different nations to stop Team Ulsrud from Norway completing back to back victories in Perth.
Some other teams to watch out for are Team GB led by David Murdoch, Team Shuster from the USA who recently clinched their spot in Sochi through a qualifying event and two time Masters winner Team McEwen from Canada. There are also a number of Scottish teams who will be looking to put in a good performance prior to the National Championships.
Thanks also go to Teams Van Dorp, Lee McLeary, Blair Fraser and Graham Shedden who have stepped in at short notice to complete the Top Class field.
The action starts at 4.45pm on Thursday 2nd January and play continues every day until the final at 3pm on Sunday 5th January. Follow the event www.perthmasters.com as well as via facebook, twitter and  the perthmasters iphone/ipad app.
