A warm welcome to the teams and spectators at the 2012 Mercure Perth Masters! It gives me great pleasure to once again renew our sponsorship with the competition and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the teams from various countries around the world to Perth and to Scotland.
As you may have noticed we have a new brand for the hotel and I am pleased to inform you that we are now part of the Accor Hotel Group which is one of the largest hotel operators in the world. With over 4,200 hotels in 90 countries, the Mercure Perth Hotel is now part of a larger network of hotels. Accor is renowned for its properties individuality, unique character and enhanced facilities and service. The Mercure Perth Hotel is one of the most historic buildings within the Accor Hotel Group and I am pleased to see that the Masters as well as the Curling in general, will feature heavily in our newsletters, company information centre and other marketing collateral.
The Mercure Perth Hotel management team, the organising committee under the leadership of Bill Duncan and Peter Loudon, the many volunteers and lovers of the sport have been working closely together on ensuring that the Mercure Perth Masters is another successful event. I wanted to acknowledge everyone’s hard work and commitment and pass on my appreciation and thanks. Indeed the last few years’ finals gave us a breathtaking closing moment which kept both the teams and spectators interest to the last stone.
I am sure the game will once again be played in the right spirit, excellent sportsmanship and outstanding Curling skills. I am very proud and honoured to be associated with the Masters and in being the main sponsor of this prestige event. I am looking forward to experiencing the match and presenting the trophy to the winning team.
Once again a very warm welcome to Perth and to Scotland.
